Route and ascent experience
Regarding the route, the climb follows the path of the former Salève railway, known as the “Salève Funicular,” via a stone staircase. Participants arrive at Pas de l’Échelle via the trail located below the Salève cable car. At this point, they enjoy an exceptional panoramic view over the canton of Geneva, including Lake Geneva, the city of Geneva, and the Jet d’Eau.
New for 2026: the Ultra Climb of the Grand Geneva Trail
A new format for challenge seekers: complete as many ascents as possible, totaling 675m of elevation gain, in 3 or 6 hours. A direct climb, a descent by cable car; a break to catch your breath and admire the view from Mont Salève. An intense and spectacular concept, as impressive to experience as it is to watch.
Sport and the promotion of the territory
The Grand Geneva Trail is part of an initiative to promote local natural heritage. It promotes sustainable sporting activity that respects the environment and is rooted in the local area.
