From 12 to 20 September 2026, the Salève Cable Car is taking part in the European Heritage Days with a special programme dedicated to its history, architecture and engineering.
Throughout the week, discover the hidden side of the cable car, explore its remarkable history and enjoy activities specially designed for families and school groups. A unique opportunity to experience one of the Greater Geneva area’s most iconic landmarks from a new perspective.
Behind the Scenes of the Salève Cable Car
Step behind the scenes and discover how the Salève Cable Car operates. Accompanied by an operator, explore areas normally closed to the public and learn how this remarkable feat of engineering has connected Geneva to its mountain for more than 90 years.

Guided tour : The Fascinating History of the Salève Cable Car
Travel back in time and discover the story of the Salève Cable Car, from the first ascents to its inauguration in 1932. This guided tour explores the technical challenges of its construction, explains how it works and highlights the modernist architecture of the upper station designed by Maurice Braillard. An immersive journey through heritage, architecture and innovation.

Activity for Children – Discover the Cable Car
Children are invited to discover the Salève Cable Car through a fun and interactive workshop. Combining history, architecture and engineering, this activity helps young visitors understand how the cable car works while having fun.
