Regulations and prohibitions
The Salève is an exceptional site, classified as a Natura 2000 area, which protects its fauna, flora and the rights of visitors. This classification imposes strict regulations concerning the use of drones in this area to guarantee the preservation of this natural environment.

Why are drones banned on certain parts of the Salève?
Natura 2000 Zone: Mont Salève is one of the protected natural areas due to its biodiversity. The use of drones in these areas is strictly regulated to avoid disrupting the fragile ecological balance.
Protection of Fauna and Flora: The use of drones can disturb local species, particularly birds and wild animals, and alter their natural habitats.
National and International Regulations: Drones are often prohibited in sensitive areas, and their use must comply with applicable environmental laws.
Visitors’ image rights
Privacy protection: When drones are used, particularly for filming or photography, it is essential to respect the image rights of visitors on Mont Salève. Any image of a person, in a public or private place, requires their prior consent.
Regulations on distribution: The use of photos or videos taken by drone, especially if people are visible, must comply with privacy laws. Any commercial use of these images, for example for promotional purposes or on social media, requires the explicit authorization of the individuals concerned.
Visitors’ rights on Mont Salève: If visitors appear in images captured by a drone without their consent, this may constitute a violation of their image rights. Drones operated for commercial purposes must therefore follow administrative procedures to ensure these rights are respected.
